Things to do for March 31, 2011

The Weekender

Pillow Fights, Caviar and a Sushi-Eating Competition

The weekend would like to see you in its office.

Thursday
Smoked Everything at South City Kitchen
SMOKE SHOP

Smoked Everything at South City Kitchen

Tonight, somewhere between your happy hour budget projection meeting and late-night patio raid, you’ll want to pencil in some time for South City Kitchen’s four-course dinner involving all things smoked. Think Margret Duck Ham with peach Manhattans and Fennel-Smoked Diver Scallops with chardonnay. Yes, cigars count as smoked.

The March Madness of Sushi
ROLL WITH IT

The March Madness of Sushi

Since your NCAA bracket didn’t pan out all that well this year, you may want to consider one with more... sushi. RA is hosting a full-on, bracket-style sushi-eating competition, where you’ll lay waste to as many uncut rolls as possible until a winner emerges. Just hope VCU doesn’t show up.

Mar 31, 6:30-10pm, no cost, RA Sushi, 1080 Peachtree St, register at 404-267-0114

Saturday
And Now, Global Pillow Fighting
PILLOW TALK

And Now, Global Pillow Fighting

Ah, the pillow fight. Its very mention calls to mind childhood buffoonery and memories of yesteryear (also, sorority houses). And this Saturday, you and the rest of the world will unite in a feathery, giggly, utter domination-y throwdown of biblical proportions. Or at least Freedom Park proportions.

Tuesday
Highbrow Hot Dogs at JCT.
DOG DAYS

Highbrow Hot Dogs at JCT.

Starting Tuesday, JCT. will be serving hot dogs. And honestly, we could probably just leave it at that and you’d be okay with it. But we’re pretty sure you’re also okay with the Coca-Cola BBQ and Chicken Liver with Apple Butter versions as well. Or maybe we’re just being presumptuous.

Whiskey and Caviar, Together at Last
OF COURSE

Whiskey and Caviar, Together at Last

You expect a certain level of cocktailery from H. Harper Station. So it may be in your best interest to show up to the four-course whiskey dinner (Maple-Lacquered Duck Breast, Concord Grape Caviar...), complete with explanations of each cocktail/dish pairing by a certified whiskeysmith. Feel free to take notes.
