Psst.
We’ve got a secret—and it involves you.
But it also involves the unassuming backyard of an Italian chef named Massimiliano.
And, more importantly, the things that happen there after dark...
Welcome to Blu Gorilla: Dinner on the Beltline, an underground dinner party discreetly tucked away behind a random Reynoldstown home, now taking reservations for this Thursday’s conclave.
To put it another way, this place won’t be popping up in the city guide anytime soon. But once you do manage to find this hidden hamlet of backyard dining (hint: you won’t be looking for the Ritz), stick to the signs and head past the house, through the side gate and into the backyard... Chef “Mas” is waiting.
You’ll then grab a seat at one of the communal tables dotting the lawn (go for the one in the back corner, next to the fire pit and the bar), where you and your date will peruse the evening’s four-course menu and begin to fully take advantage of the all-important BYOB scenario.
The menu changes weekly, but expect dishes like Grilled Polenta, Bolognese and Pea Risotto and Veal Scaloppini, all graciously delivered to your table by a team of servers (and the chef himself, who operates a catering company out of the home’s commercial kitchen). You’ll also be happy to hear that each dinner will be paired with a different handpicked selection of wine tastings.
In case you didn’t B enough of your own B.
