Today we raise a toast to you, Europe.
You’ve given us an abundance of riches throughout the years... Heidi Klum. Our legal system. Sprockets (we forgave Dieter long ago).
And next up: dinner.
The way it was meant to be... over there, that is. Which brings us to 5th Street Café, a stateside ode to the laid-back air of European dining from the equally European trio behind Buckhead Bottle Bar, soft-open now in Midtown.
So after a take-no-prisoners, time-is-money afternoon of power handshakes and empire building, you’ll want to request the presence of the nearest brunette named Belladonna and casually decamp to the room-length bar for a Paris Manhattan and a long, slow evening of overall take-your-time-ness.
From there, you’ll make your way over dark hardwood floors and under the black-on-silver ceiling to a crocodile leather booth in the corner (crocodiles make a mean booth) for some charcuterie, after which time a little Croque Madame or Chicken Milanese with saffron aioli cream may become necessary.
And in just a few short days, the adjoining patisserie will be opening at 7am for your required daily intake of strong coffee and sableuse baked in-house.
Which more than makes up for Sprockets.
