You're Gellin'

Spiked Sorbet in Georgetown

UD - Boozy Sorbettos at Dolcezza Artisanal Gelato It's hot. Mind-numbingly hot. The standing-on-the-sun kind of hot that makes you want to do crazy things.

Like reach for a tall ice cream cone. Laced with liquor.

With that in mind, say hello to Boozy Sorbettos at Dolcezza Artisanal Gelato, now available for the summer season.

Think of this as your afternoon cocktail, if someone rendered it all frozen and spoon-ready. You'll walk—slowly, deliberately—into this tiny Georgetown gelateria, revel in the blast of cool air and gaze longingly at the tubs of black raspberry and chocolate gelato. Tempting, but your business today is with one of the rotating array of icier concoctions on the menu.

These start as all winning enterprises do—with a big bottle of the good stuff. To all that boozy goodness, they add pureed fruit, water, sugar and (if they're feeling fresh) maybe an herb or two. The result: a triple scoop of Cucumber Mint Vodka, Mojito or Strawberry Tequila Sorbetto.

Now, a quick word to the wise: these folks get all their ingredients from local farmers, and they're pretty intense about the seasonal thing. So once the strawberries are gone, so's your iced tequila fix. But not to worry: peaches aren't far behind, so in about a week, you'll feast on Yellow Peach Southern Comfort Sorbetto.

Your SoCo always needed more sorbetto.
