The art of the neighborhood bar is an art that you're well-versed in.
As are the guys from Floyd's Pub in Bucktown. So much so that they're opening another beer-fueled hangout in Lakeview tomorrow called the Wooden Nickel. Let's hear it for the arts.
Take a look around. It's a no-frills type of place where the walls are covered in multi-colored wood and photos of guitar-wielding musicians. Grab a seat at the bar and settle in for your first beer of the evening. And if that bar feels a bit familiar, that's because it's the same one used by the previous tenant, Northdown.
Feel free to get acquainted with some old friends like Edmund Fitzgerald and Ebel Weiss. Or a Revolution Eugene Porter. Or, hell, a Schlitz. There are several dozen beers to choose from, plus the usual suspects of spirits and classic cocktails.
Then the steak nachos arrive. And the game comes on. And your friend who you haven't seen in years walks in. Everything seems to be working in your favor here, including the Double Nickel burger.
Funny how things like that always seem to happen in these types of stories.
