Here's where you now go for drinks after a dinner at L'Artusi.
Yep, we just gave you an excuse to have to go to L'Artusi. You're welcome.
It's also where you might watch an important game with a beer and oysters and not be in the Ainsworth, grab a burger and cocktails from a Locanda Verde vet, or... we could go on.
Such are a few of many uses of Due West, a new bar with good drinks and the bar food most bar food aspires to be, open now in the West Village.
Some time between choosing the rich walnut bar, glossy black ceiling, marble tabletops and navy crushed velvet banquettes they must've decided to make it a luxe-looking place. Step inside and you hardly notice the giant TVs in each nook—come by on certain nights (the first weekend in February, for example) and they'll be screening whatever game you're excited about. Assuming that's whatever game most people are excited about.
Your drinks here are far from average—they were crafted by the former cocktail director of Locanda Verde, so you've got options like the Green Witch on draft (gin, saffron, grapefruit, toasted rosemary) and Old Diablo (tequila, lager, house-spiced grenadine, charred citrus sea salt rim), in addition to old-school coke bottles of rum-and-cola or their take on the Paloma. (That one's strong. Very strong.) Food-wise, you can stick with bites like the fried cauliflower, beef tartare or chick pea fritters with mint and harissa, or if you're in need of something more substantial, go for the bacon and caramelized onion-topped burger with shoestring fries. We don't see enough shoestring fries in this town/life.
Now to the slideshow, for visions of said burger, the bar and some drinks on offer.
