The A Wrinkle In Time Trailer Looks Incredible And I Hope We All Live To See The Full Film

March 9th Is a Long Time From Now

Last night director Ava DuVernay tweeted out the latest trailer for her upcoming movie, A Wrinkle In Time and it looks time-bendingly divine.

Meg Murry, played by the gifted Storm Reid, is on a search for her missing scientist father and must navigate foreign macrocosms with her genius younger brother. The eerily gorgeous trailer gives us snapshots of the places the siblings travel to in order to find him. Some look somewhat recognizable while others are so dystopic and contextless, your heart races watching Meg figure out where she is.

Yes, that sounds a little stressful, but having the ability to travel through the fifth dimension is incredibly appealing at the moment.

Plus, Meg is being spiritually guided by Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling, who play Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Who, respectively. The trio is decked out in celestial drag, so whatever crisis Meg is in doesn’t compare at all to us having to hear from Kellyanne Conway once a week.

The book and film are meant to be a fantastical escape, but I wonder if DuVernay knew that by the time it was released just how badly we’d need an excursion to Uriel, Camazotz, and Ixchel. Of course she knew. DuVernay isn’t a brilliant director by accident.

Now the only thing to do is wait til March 9th for the film to come out. And, just to really pile on the dread, there is always a chance we won’t, as a world, make it until then. But here’s to hoping! That's literally all we've got!
