You knew this day would come.
The day you found yourself chasing a breakfast burger with a heaping scoop of bacon-covered cookie dough.
In hindsight, it was inevitable, what with LA's Nighthawk Breakfast Bar expanding to Chicago via a counter-service offshoot called Nighthawk: AM. It's open now, so take a look.
Back to that counter. It's certainly not the worst place you could be, with retro cereal boxes on the floor and views of the open kitchen. And a painted skeleton on the exposed brick wall with some sage words for you: "All day I dream about breakfast."
But, no, you're not dreaming. There really is a burger with an over-medium egg and bacon fat mayo sitting in front of you. Or maybe it's French toast sticks served with bourbon maple syrup or a creation known as the Blackhawk with scrambled eggs, sweet corn and fennel hash.
And just when you think this parade of beautiful gluttony is over, it's time for dessert. That comes in the form of blueberry pancake batter or maple cookie dough topped with Pop Rocks or bacon, respectively. Which you might want to follow with a dark roast coffee spiked with cereal milk, because it's too late to turn back now.
Though maybe you should've slowed down after that burger.
