When your old standbys change, it's hard to adjust.
Sometimes, though, like when those changes involve a new spa, elevated camping (fine, glamping) and an infinity hot tub overlooking a redwood grove… well, you'll figure out how to deal with it.
And falconry. Shit, we almost forgot falconry.
Welcome to the new and improved Ventana Big Sur, reopening today after months of renovations. As you approach the familiar, rustic façade of the building situated on the coast, you'll almost wonder if anything is different.
—All 59 guest rooms, suites, villas and the main Social House have been refreshed, with that last one now offering billiards and nightly wine and cheese pairings.
—A glamping program with 15 canvas tents spanning a 20-acre canyon in the redwoods that features custom mattresses, turn-down service and a bath house with teak showers and heated floors. Enough for you to forgive the term glamping.
—Two pools, one with an attached infinity hot tub and views of the ocean on one side and redwoods on the other. The next being a clothing-optional pool with Japanese-style baths.
—A new spa center and an activities program that includes falconry, hiking, drum circles and quartz bowl energy sound baths.
Oh good, you don't have to BYO quartz bowls.
