Sometimes, you need a hot shave.
Sometimes, you need a cold drink.
Sometimes, you need both. Blind Barber—yes, that Blind Barber of NYC's East Village fame—will now serve as your haircut-and-a-cocktail headquarters in Fulton Market. It's open this very moment and it looks like this.
Start with a trim in the company of distressed mirrors and unnecessarily attractive barbershop supplies. Your razor-yielding magician will make his final stroke. You'll gaze upon and nod approval to your visage. The urge for some bourbon will strike.
How convenient, because through the rear door, past the vintage cigarette machine and velvet curtain is, surprise, a handsome 1970s-y bar. But you probably knew that. What you may not have known is that they're putting cold brew in their Negronis and brie on their grilled cheeses. You do now.
The wood-paneled back room is home to a fern or two as well as Blind Barber's signature checkered floor. Clearly, they've done this before. Find a seat under the shelves covered in golden owls and vintage cameras for a night of canned beers and pastrami tacos.
Back to those grilled cheeses, though. They've got over a dozen on the menu, covered in the likes of Spanish chorizo and honey-Sriracha BBQ sauce. Enjoy those. Then enjoy a rum-and-pineapple Bird in Hand or a mezcal-forward Your Best Guess.
You may need another shave by the time this is all over.
