One thing our city is great at and has lots of: bars.
One thing our city could use a little work on: rooftop bars.
Enter the Rooftop at VIA, a new place high above the city in which to drink gin and celebrate this beautiful thing called life from a beautiful thing called a private cabana, opening Wednesday in SoMa. Slideshow time.
It’s got views of the Bay and the ballpark. It’s got fire pits. And there are a few ways for you to access it: 1) Get a room at the hotel, 2) Rent out a cabana for you and five of your closest friends, or 3) Rent the whole place out for you and all of your friends.
Assuming you’ve opted for the standard cabana route, you’ll check in at the front desk and be led up to the 12th floor, through the indoor bar/dining area and out to your cabana overlooking King St. Oh, and the included bottle of champagne. Always that.
And while you’re watching the sunset, order something from your personal server like Wagyu tartare with fermented cabbage or jumbo prawn cocktails with housemade kimchi cocktail sauce. And if that bottle of champagne wasn’t enough (it wasn’t), they have a full bar complete with large format punches.
Good rooftop, is basically all we’re saying.
