You’ve stayed at an Airbnb.
You’ve stayed at a hotel.
You’ve even stayed at a hostel, once upon a time, when you cared less about your personal space.
But let us ask you this: have you ever stayed in an Airbnb/hotel/hostel?
...
Right. Thus... Fieldhouse Jones.
It’s a vintage-y, sports-themed boutique hotel with some hostel-like rooms and a few Airbnb-able penthouses inside a century-old dairy warehouse, and it’s taking reservations now for a Wednesday opening in River North.
You can see it in pictures here.
And you can catch whatever the verbal equivalent of that is here...
We’ll start in the lobby.
You’ll find a comely bi-level lounge with an interesting tennis racquet installation, mural-covered scoreboards and a full-service coffee bar for caffeine boosts, empanadas and avocado toast. This would be a good place to hang out for a while and send an email or something.
Then, we’ll head upstairs.
That’s where the rooms are. Easygoing out-of-towners may want to stay in one of the shared rooms. They’re sort of hostel-y, except not, given the full-size beds and en suite bathrooms. And once those summer music festivals roll around, maybe you and some fellow revelers will Airbnb the Rosewall, a decidedly rakish penthouse loft that has the added benefit of not being your own place.
Last but not least: the basement.
Right now, it’s designed to look like an empty swimming pool, and it features two massive vintage slot car machines, billiards and ping-pong, all of which are open to the public. Soon enough, it’ll also be home to a speakeasy-style cocktail bar.
Soon enough can’t come soon enough.
