Today we’re bringing you exactly three surprises...
1) The late, great Kerry Simon’s final project is located in Henderson.
2) It offers pitchers of rum cocktails with something called “Snail Wellington.”
3) You have a sudden and explicable urge to bring a date to Henderson.
And so begins your journey to Standard & Pour, a shockingly Strip-like restaurant that’s happy to live in Henderson and provide everybody with atomized mezcal drinks, short rib tacos and that snail thing we mentioned. It’s open now, and here’s the menu and the slideshow.
You’ll find this place on the second floor of an otherwise unassuming building, in a modern space with wallpaper in the sort of bold floral print you wouldn’t label as unassuming.
Go for a table in the main dining room. That’s where you’ll have panoramic Strip views through floor-to-ceiling windows accompanying your white-chocolate-and-venison tartare, crispy oysters and black-truffle-and-carrot risotto. It’s a good place to be.
After dinner, move out to the patio for drinks. Get a four-pack of their citrusy bottled vodka cocktails. Or perhaps a pitcher full of pineapple-y rum.
And whatever your guest wants, of course.
