New York has given LA a lot of grief over the years.
But now they’re giving us a Shake Shack.
So, all good.
Yes, Shake Shack, Danny Meyer’s not-at-all-un-famous hub for burgers and shakes, is opening tomorrow in West Hollywood. Here’s the slideshow and the menu.
If you’ve gone to the original, then you’ll come here to re-savor those Angus burgers and glorious shakes. And if you haven’t, you’ll pop in to see what all the fuss is about. Or to make all manner of inconsequential comparisons to In-N-Out.
Either way, once inside, you’ll find a modern take on the Route 66 burger stands of yore surrounded by glass windows and tables made from recycled bowling lanes. Go inside, order your burgers, then head right back outside to a bench on the significant Santa Monica Boulevard–side patio and be thankful you’re not one of the burgerless stuck in traffic.
Also, they’re making special stuff just for LA. Like the Rainbow Connection frozen custard with Cofax donuts and strawberry-and-rose-geranium jam from Sqirl. There’s also the Roadside Double, a swiss-topped burger with onions simmered in beer and bacon.
Do they get us or what?
