JOOOO-NAS!!!!!!!
We just thought it would be fun to yell that before we give you news of great gin significance.
News of Proof + Gauge, the cocktail bar and tasting room arm of the Astoria Distilling Company, now open in LIC at the Falchi Building.
What you’ve got here is a soon-to-exist gin distillery that’s featuring their Queens Courage gin in front of it. Naturally, they want you drinking said gin, so the cocktails are founded on it. Some will be available in punch bowls.
For snacks, at the moment, be content with solar-popped popcorn. That’s just what it sounds like. But among other places in this building (the first floor is run by the Chelsea Market people) are a ReCaFo (Caribbean), Khao Man Gai NY (Thai) and Doughnut Plant, so consider all that at your disposal.
And here’s a proposition for you: help them bottle some of the gin, and you get some pizza, a T-shirt and a bottle of... wait for it... gin. You’re a gintern (many apologies for that).
They’re also in talks for a possible collaboration with that Doughnut Plant that would result in a donut-paired cocktail tasting menu.
That got you.
