Things to do for November 11, 2015

The Weekender

Orbit Room’s Return, Early Gifting and Jerky Fried Rice

This is the last weekend for miles.

Wednesday
Orbit Room’s Triumphant Return
BAR RESCUE

Orbit Room’s Triumphant Return

Orbit Room closed in the spring. Which was sad. Now, the classic bar is back with a Tempest vet to handle the drinks and a new rotating menu of food that you can eat. Mondays = meatballs. Tuesdays = tacos. Wednesdays = chicken and waffles. Thursdays = tiki. Weekends = pizza. You = going there.

Thursday
A Very Sunglasses-y Happy Hour
HAPPY PLACE

A Very Sunglasses-y Happy Hour

Azalea. It’s a weird choice for happy-hour-ing, we know. But hear us out. This Thursday, there’ll be sunglasses galore from Classic Specs and appetizers from Straw like buffalo wings and donut cheeseburgers. Plus: gratis wine. Bottom line is, you’re really glad you just figuratively heard us out.

Friday
This New Lunch Is Not for Vegetarians
FEELING COCKY

This New Lunch Is Not for Vegetarians

Pretend it’s Friday. You’re looking to be happy, so you head to Cockscomb to try their new lunch. You order the pork belly sandwich. Or the bacon-wrapped hot dog. Or the foie gras burger. And you’re happy. (Please note: this scenario also works on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.)

Saturday
You’ll Find Gifts and Beer Here
ALITE THE WAY

You’ll Find Gifts and Beer Here

You’ve got less than 48 hours this weekend to drink beer while sifting through discounted outdoorsy items like backpacks, chairs and gear at Alite Designs’ annual warehouse sale. Anything there could make a great holiday gift. Meaning: the stakes have never been higher. Just kidding. They almost always are.

Sunday
One of the Better Ways to Brunch
MISSION POSSIBLE

One of the Better Ways to Brunch

To celebrate the launch of their new cookbook, Mission Chinese Food is hosting a special brunch (involving malted rye bagels with Russ & Daughters smoked and cured fish) as well as a special dinner (involving beef jerky fried rice and scallop sashimi). Mission Chinese, please publish books more often. Thanks.
