The Weekender

Chino’s New Brunch and Napa’s New Noodles

Oh, come on. One more weekend won’t kill you.

The Little Ramen Pop-Up That Could
THIS IZ IT

The Little Ramen Pop-Up That Could

Sometimes, pop-ups grow so popular that they become real restaurants. Like Iza Ramen. It started as a weekend-only thing at Blowfish Sushi, but amassed such a following that it now has its own brick-and-mortar serving ramen with kimchi, chicken gyoza and Wagyu steak tartare. Everyone’s currently living happily ever after.

Now open, Iza Ramen, 237 Fillmore St (between Haight and Waller), 415-926-8173

Just Loads of Sherry at Holy Mountain
SHERRY-ING IS CARING

Just Loads of Sherry at Holy Mountain

A frustrating conversation between us and someone named Cheri.

Us: The bar-in-restaurant at Hawker Fare is hosting a sherry party all week.
Cheri: Really? I’m flattered.
Us: They’ll have a curated list of sherries and special sherry-based drinks.
Cheri: Wait, what?
Us: We’re talking about liquor.
Cheri: This was dumb.

Looks Like You’re Eating BBQ
GONE SOUTH

Looks Like You’re Eating BBQ

There’s a nice arrangement going on at Southpaw. Here’s how it works: you can still get all of Southpaw’s classics (smoked pulled goat, fried pickles...). But now you can also get Sneaky’s Carolina-style BBQ pulled pork and dry-rub ribs. So as far as arrangements go, this one’s not bad.

Quite the Italian Place Here
MOMI DEAREST

Quite the Italian Place Here

Next time you’re in Napa, stop by Ca’ Momi Osteria. It’s a high-ceilinged restaurant with wood-oven-roasted pork shank and Neapolitan-style pizza. They also have a seal of approval from the Italian government and their certification from the Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani. Which is... something.

Sunday
It’s a Good Morning-After Brunch
BAO DOWN

It’s a Good Morning-After Brunch

Chino’s doing brunch now. This guide should help you navigate it:

If you’re hungover: Try the morning bao with housemade bacon.
If you’re really hungover: Go with the pork belly and ham hock jook.
If you’re beyond repair: Mimosa Jell-O shots.

Then maybe find a bed.

Sat-Sun, 11:30am-3pm, Chino, 3198 16th St (at Guerrero), 415-552-5771, see the menu
