If you haven’t had wood-fired pizza in a beer garden yet today, we’ve got some good news.
If you have, well... congratulations on your life choices.
Either way, take note of Drake’s Dealership, an enormous ex-car-dealership that’s now part pub, part restaurant and part outdoor beer garden, soft-open this very moment in Uptown Oakland. (Yep, Oakland’s on a bit of a heater lately.)
You’ll come in the early evening and step into the open-air beer garden. You could meander inside where you’ll find a vast, winding, wood-heavy expanse complete with a big steel bar.
Or you could stay where you are and pull up a bench under the old-school mural at one of the picnic tables. (Look, it’s a slideshow.)
And that’s when the beers start flying around. Beers like Almanac Reserve Citrus and Summer Session Schwartz and around 30 others. Drink those. Smize behind your sunglasses. Think about how good that breeze feels.
It’s the type of perfect summer situation that could only be improved upon by the sudden appearance of a double-smoked-bacon, fennel sausage and mozzarella pie. Or maybe something involving duck sausage, mushrooms and garlic thyme.
And later, take your friends and some poutine over to one of the fire pits and huddle around.
Campfire songs optional.
