Good.
Because this is Armoury D.E., a dimly lit and quite attractive new drinking den that you should really see for yourself. It’s now open in Deep Ellum.
It looks like this. Nice, isn’t it? Sure, it’s got the old brick walls, industrial furniture and glowing lamps, but it’s also got one of the most enviable back bars in town. Row after row of things that you should immediately request be mixed into other things and placed before you. They’re calling it a “cocktail.” (See the menu.)
Come here anytime you’re in the mood for charred octopus, pork belly fritters and something good to drink. Tonight works. Then post up at the bar or slide into that green banquette along the wall. You’ll eat, you’ll laugh, you’ll start to think a beer-and-mezcal boilermaker is a good idea, and you’ll be right. It’ll be fun.
It will also be entirely indoors. For now. But this fall, they’re turning that space in back into a patio with a little stage. And even sooner—like in about a month—they’ll start serving brunch on weekends.
Which is the accepted time to serve brunch.
