It’s almost summer. When a person’s thoughts turn to patios and drinking alcohol on them. Right on season, here’s Le Jardin, a new outdoor lounge in Hollywood that has a nice olive-tree-to-Bellini-to-guy-strumming-acoustic-guitar ratio. It’s an exciting stage in every person’s life.
You might think it’s not ice cream sandwich weather out there. Then you might laugh at yourself for such a thought. Coolhaus is now constructing them with white cheddar popcorn ice cream full of Dorito shards. And a salted vanilla bean packed with shoestring fries. The old ways are dead.
Two new Downtown breweries launch this weekend:
1) Mumford Brewing exists, and you can try their beers in person at their tasting room.
2) For now, you’ll find Boomtown Brewery’s creations like B-Side red stout at places like Blue
Palms and Covell. And they’ll have a tasting room soon, too. Wouldn’t want to be shown up by Mumford.
Toast. You can make that at home. But it’d be more fun to call your brunch support network. Tell them there’s this dentist-cum-chef loading toasts with things like edible soil, herbed burrata and pickled chard in the alley behind Daily Dose. You rarely approach edible soil at home.
Two ways to shop for Dad this week: in a blind panic, you could comb LA for cashmere socks. Or... stroll into Rotelli Cyclery’s Sunday pop-up for a gratis beer, a haircut and Pie Hole pie while browsing Imperial Barber’s grooming tackle and This Is Ground’s leather goods. Your call.
