Bad news: Scotch & Sausage closed.
Good news: it’s already been replaced.
Better news: tacos.
See for yourself at Le Taco Cantina, a tortilla-wrapped, tequila-soaked salvo from the same guys and under the same roof as Scotch & Sausage, soft-open now and hosting a grand-opening party on May 30. (Take a look inside.)
The dark woods and metal are gone. Now it’s all about lighter woods, red benches and gold bar stools. And the menu’s working in some Asian and French accents, which fortunately translates to Moo Shu Duck Confit and the Le Oscar Taco with Akaushi beef, truffle cream and crab. (Here’s the menu.)
So far, so good. And about that tequila... there’s a lot of tequila. Mezcal, too. Which means you’ve got everything you need for an ambitious lunch break or an evening out with friends. To get started, we’d suggest grabbing one of those communal tables and just seeing what feels right.
Probably some smoked-brisket tacos with Thai-chili barbecue sauce. And definitely a drink. The tequila-and-rye-spiked La Roma would do the trick but—and hear us out—there’s also the Tiki Time. That one involves rum, and yes, that rum is set on fire.
So it’s probably hot.
