There’s nothing quite like making the first tracks down a remote mountain.
Well, except maybe skydiving from 15,000 feet or riding upside down in a biplane.
But we’re not here to talk about that...
Just kidding. We totally are. Because this is the 12 Day South Island Snow Odyssey, a New Zealand mountain-hopping tour that packs a whole lot of adrenaline into those 288 hours, booking now for June through September departures. (See the slideshow here.)
The goal here is hitting eight mountains in 12 days. And these are eight lesser-known, lesser-frequented mountains with large vertical drops, steep narrow chutes and wide-open bowls. So... already be good at skiing.
You’ll be traveling with a group of four to 16 people, if you want to bring some friends. And you’ll have downtime for things like eating lunch at a salmon farm and soaking in hot pools. For a few nights, you’ll even stay in a lodge from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. That’s fun. And weird.
Okay, enough downtime. Because you’ll wisely request a few add-ons like heli-skiing, skydiving over the Southern Alps and taking an acrobatic ride in a 1941 open-cockpit biplane.
Don’t forget your seat belt.
