Well then.
We’re going to just call it The Bar Behind Coyo. It’s a tequila and mezcal dispensary hidden behind your favorite Wynwood taqueria. And it’s open now. (See the slideshow.)
Before you can drink here, you’ll have to find it. Heading over to Coyo is a good start. Walk inside, and go past the bathrooms and straight through an unmarked door.
Now, if the smell of tacos proves too distracting, you can also get here through a door in the back of the building. Or, f**k it—give in, eat the tacos and proceed to the bar.
Once inside, you’ll find a dimly lit room with Japanese-burnt-wood walls, Cuban tile floors, Mexican religious candles and a DJ booth streaming stuff like Afro-Cuban funk or deep disco. Across the way: a bar with generous amounts of tequila and mezcal being poured until 3am.
After you’ve made yourself comfortable with a few friends, order a round of PaletaRitas. That’s a paleta that’s been dunked into a margarita. You know what’s a solid follow-up: a few pours of tequila that the owner’s brought in directly from Mexico.
