Local purveyors of damn fine marbled meat Crown Corned Beef & Foods Inc. just opened a little deli joint adjacent to their factory. Which means you’re now privy to a small yet mighty selection of beef-based sandwiches, housemade chips and that’s about it. But... sandwiches.
The play: serving your guests chips and guacamole at your Super Bowl party. The audible: preordering a massive guacamole bar to go from XOCO, stocked with enough homemade tortilla chips, fresh salsa and Mexican toppings to appease over 10 people. The end: is pretty much just the end.
The mixological masterminds over at Bull & Bear and Public House have created a rather fantastical Bloody Mary just in time for the big game. It’s got a smoked chicken wing, thick-cut bacon, bourbon-glazed shrimp, a sriracha-OJ-grapefruit juice concoction and vodka in it. We can’t really stress that last one enough.
Odds you’ll watch the Super Bowl: very good. Odds you’ll watch the Super Bowl at Chicago Scene’s upscale viewing party while shamelessly indulging in a smattering of specialty ribs, sliders and chicken wings: pretty good. Odds you’ll make it through the Katy Perry performance: consult your bookie.
