When one door closes, another one opens.
Down the road.
With the same name.
And a certified pizzaiolo.
Reintroduce yourself to Sfuzzi. The same-named but entirely new operation is doling out wood-fired pizzas and plenty to drink, and it’s quietly open now on Cedar Springs. (See the slideshow.)
Right... Sfuzzi. It used to exist on McKinney, then it shuttered about a year ago. Well, a new team has restored the name and opened up shop in a new location. First thing you’ll notice: it’s bigger and all pleasant-looking inside, what with those high ceilings, the leather horseshoe booths and the open kitchen.
And about that kitchen: the menu comes from Avner Samuel (Nosh), and there’s a certified, straight-from-Italy pizzaiolo manning the wood-fired oven. So please, eat a pizza. Share a seafood tower with a date. Order some handmade bucatini with meatballs. Do all of those things with a bottle of wine. (See the menu.)
Then just when you think it’s time to leave, it’s not. Because it’s actually time to head toward the back. There you’ll find the Grotto Bar, a dimly lit, brick-walled drinkery where you can relax with more wine and pizzas until 2am.
But then you’ll have to leave.
