HQ Beercade River North. We told you about it yesterday. And for reasons we don’t need to get into (okay, our site was effectively down), we couldn’t run our slideshow of the place. Well, today is a new day. And here is that slideshow. New days are the best.

You Like Fried-Chicken Windows

Huh. This is curious. A window mysteriously appeared on the side of Lillie’s Q with “LQ Chicken Shack” written above it. We bet if you walked up, they’d sell you some fried chicken, chicken sandwiches and cherry-Kool-Aid-soaked pickles. Guess there’s only one way to find out.

Goodbye, Summer. Hello, Contortionists.

Unless you’ve attended at least one freak show, had at least one alcohol-laced snow cone and watched at least one contortionist, it’s tough to call it a successful summer. Good thing the Cirque du FMK party at Fulton Market Kitchen is about to squeeze all of that in at the buzzer for you.

In Logan Square, the Remix Chicago fest is about to take over part of Milwaukee Avenue with bands and food and stuff. But... look behind Milwaukee Avenue on Medill. Yeah, by that giant mural. Where DJs are spinning. Where Lagunitas is flowing. That’s the East Room backlot party. That’s where you’re needed.

Aug 30-31, noon-10pm, no cost, East Room (patio and parking lot), 2828 W Medill Ave, 773-276-9603

A Dance Party Is Definitely in Order

Oh, what the hell. Here, have another Logan Square open-air soiree. This one’s hosted by the fine people of Longman & Eagle. They’ll be serving lamb kebabs, shrimp ceviche, beer, whiskey and a peach-tea punch. And any urge you have to dance will be fully respected. Just saying.

Aug 31, 1-10pm, no cost, Longman & Eagle, 2657 N Kedzie Ave, 773-276-7110

Mahoney’s is hosting this year’s HogFight. Here’s how it works: seven chefs will do their very best to a whole hog. Then they’ll serve it to you. Then randomly selected fest-goers will join the judges to select a winner, who shall be named HogFather. No, that’s a good thing.

Aug 31, 3-7pm, $20 ($25 at door), HogFight at Mahoney’s Pub, 551 N Ogden Ave, 312-733-2121, tickets here

UD Hookup: The first 10 people to email here are going to get set up with a pair of gratis tickets to this thing. So you should probably email there.
