It’s beautiful out there. And you’re ready to ski. And you haven’t been waiting this long to do it the same way you did last season. Which is why we’ve taken the liberty of presenting you with the newest and most noteworthy additions to the United States of America’s westernmost slopes. First up, tacos.
Tacos. They’re not exactly bounteous in the mountains. Unless you’re at Squaw Valley. Then they’re bounteous. Because this season, two taco-slinging (among other things) food trucks will be parked next to the resort’s ski lifts for your mouth’s general amusement. Assuming your mouth likes amusement.
There are several things every major ski destination should have. A low-tech roller coaster is not one of them. And yet, Snowbird went ahead and built one of those. Yep. A plastic seat, some brakes and gravity are about to take you down 3,120 feet of tree-lined slopes. Good luck with that.
It’s happening. It’s actually happening. After much ado, Breckenridge has finally flung open the gates to Peak 6. Oh, nothing, just the biggest North American ski resort expansion in a decade. Awaiting you: new runs, new bowls and new lifts. Probably new snow, too.
It’s good to know where the after-dark action is. Sometimes it’s at a bar. Sometimes it’s in a hot tub. And sometimes it’s at Steamboat’s terrain park or five other runs, which are now keeping the lights on well past sundown. Bonus: bars and hot tubs aren’t going anywhere.
Big Sky Montana just merged with Moonlight Basin. And their combined forces now make this the biggest ski wonderland in the country. How that plays out for you: one little lift ticket, 5,750 acres of terrain and a 0% chance of hating what you’re about to do.
