Hoops and Tommy Guns in Lincoln Park

Just when you thought you might be over speakeasy-themed bars, one comes along with an offer you can't refuse…

Welcome to Cagney's, a dapper, pinstriped-suit of an Irish sports bar, soft-opening Friday in Lincoln Park.

Think of Cagney's as the latest in a long line of haunts mining your weakness for Tommy guns, college hoops and, of course, arugula-and-goat-cheese salads.

But what you'll appreciate about this one is that it manages to evoke dark, moody glamour over mobster kitsch—which means you and your favorite moll wouldn't be out of place holed up in the low-slung basement, sitting close and cozy in a distressed-leather banquette and conspiring over Molotov Cocktails and Bloodier Marys.

Other nights, you'll find yourself upstairs in a comfortable booth with your sports-loving crew, surrounded from every angle by NCAA-tuned HD flat-screens. (The owners swear they haven't settled on any school allegiance yet, so there's still hope for your Badgers/Maroons/Lady Vols.)

Should you get hungry, you'll find all the usual Irish suspects (chicken fingers, fish & chips, shepherd's pie), though if one of the boys really craves something like a Salmon with Pesto Mayo, he's covered.

But you might want to pat him for a wire.
