You know Bull & Bear.
You know Public House.
You know Siena Tavern.
Oh, wait... you’ve only heard excited whisperings of Siena Tavern. Well, it’s opening Saturday. So without further ado:
Welcome to Siena Tavern, an expansive playground of hot-from-the-oven pizzas, lasagna and, if you wish, a little late-night carousing, opening Saturday.
Some background: Lucas Stoioff and David Rekhson—the geniuses who made pouring your own beer fashionable at Bull & Bear—have teamed up with the glint-eyed Top Chef–ster Fabio Viviani for this venture. The result is essentially what a Florence country estate would look like if it had a lot more girls clacking around in high heels on Saturday night.
Viviani is unleashing some secret weapons. First is his mama’s lasagna. The second is a pizza crust made with stone-ground wheat from an unnamed source in Italy. So on a date, reserve one of those big round booths and split a truffle pizza and that 36-ounce porterhouse. Going full-on Lady and the Tramp with the squid-ink linguine: also an option.
But when you’re free and easy, and looking to get up to something with a group of friends, take over that back lounge near the DJ. Order a round of bourbon with a splash of Italian bitters and sink into one of the leather club chairs clad in old-airplane paneling.
Yes, you’re cleared for takeoff.
