Five Tables to Help You Win Valentine’s Day

Right now, everyone else is focused on black-tie galas and swearing-in ceremonies. Good. Time to nail down a choice Valentine’s Day table while they’re distracted. Here are a few worth requesting.

Tables #61 to #64, Mintwood Place

Tables #61 to #64, Mintwood Place

You Require: The chance to show off a bit.
You’ll Receive: One of four window-seat tables. The rest of the dining room is laid out before you, Columbia Road is directly behind you, and your date: she’s right next to you.

Tables #3 to #5, Rasika West End

Tables #3 to #5, Rasika West End

You Require: An exotic prop.
You’ll Receive: One of three canopied booths arrayed along the window and modeled on the doli, a sedan-chair-type contraption on which a newly married couple in India is carried. Unfortunately, these are fixed, so you can’t ask the bussers for a ride.

Booth #3, Martin’s Tavern

Booth #3, Martin’s Tavern

You Require: A touch of Camelot glamour.
You’ll Receive: Exactly that. Namely, the very slice of old-school Georgetown real estate where JFK proposed to Jackie (allegedly). He probably didn’t order the Guinness mussels and the meat loaf, but you should.

Table #2, Le Grenier

Table #2, Le Grenier

You Require: French. Just French.
You’ll Receive: A vintage-looking bench with plenty of cushions, and wispy white curtains. Oh, and escargot, coq au vin and plenty of triple cream cheese. Double cream cheese is for sissies.

Table #80, Woodberry Kitchen

Table #80, Woodberry Kitchen

You Require: A destination.
You’ll Receive: The only booth for two at this, perhaps Baltimore’s best restaurant. It’s secluded in the less-trafficked upstairs with a single Edison bulb hanging, for just enough light to see your local whiskey, local-er beef and oysters six different ways.
