Your list of resolutions is quite provocative:
1) Drink more kale juice.
2) Eat more lobster rolls.
But we think it’s doable. Especially because now there’s this place...
Meet Little Market Brasserie, a charmer of an all-day dining destination, now soft-open in the Gold Coast’s Talbott Hotel.
This comes from the scene makers behind Mercadito and Tavernita, with chef Ryan Poli overseeing your roast chicken and deep-frying your cheddar-stuffed pork belly.
It’s a bustling little jewel box with a front bar with cut-glass decanters that have been transformed into pendant lights (a full lounge opens soon), and black-and-white subway tiles everywhere else.
So yes: cocktails are a must. Choose one of five “chargers”—basically, housemade sodas in wacky flavors like smoked, salted cream soda—and your spirit to mix with it.
For the most part, however, think... cozy. When you just need an upbeat spot to split some beef short ribs and a lobster roll on a January night, they’ll have a snug two-top waiting for you. If you’re stopping here after a night elsewhere, the short rib comes in convenient poutine form.
Just remember: this is also a power-breakfast spot. Marshal your forces here for housemade bacon and an All-Day Grilled Cheese (it’s got a fried egg on it). Or just pound a fresh-made kale/cucumber/celery/apple/lemon juice cocktail before taking on the world.
2013 is kale’s year.
