Mayan Calendars, Incan Tater Tots and Natalie Portman

We got a full tank of gas. Half a pack of cigarettes. It’s dark. And it’s the weekend.

Here, Please Enjoy More Chilam Balam

The Mayan calendar foresaw this. Well, we assume it did, anyway. Lakeview’s tiny Mayan-themed restaurant opened a sister spot yesterday in West Town. It’s serving pumpkin soups, pecan moles, goat-cheese enchiladas and gingerbread tres leches. We won’t let the world end before you try it.

You, Some Cognac and Natalie Portman

The Public hotel has a film series. And it serves free popcorn. Also, cognac. So head over, cuddle up with a blankie in its screening room and watch its ongoing investigation into the career of Natalie Portman with The Professional. Though you prefer her later work as a rapper.

Nov 28, drinks 7pm, movie 8pm, no cost with RSVP, Public, 1301 N State Pkwy, 312-787-3700, RSVP here

Beer and Cheese: A Love Story

You really don’t know how to pair beer with cheese. It’s okay. Somehow, you’ve managed to fake it. But the lies end here. Hopleaf and Marion Street Cheese Market host a night filled with Belgian beers and a variety of cheeses to match them with. Consider it an intervention.

Fish Bar Goes to the Highest Bidder

You and 50 friends can have this amiable fish shack—and all its oysters and bourbon—to yourselves on New Year’s Eve. Just win its eBay auction this Friday. Basically, it’s Indecent Proposal, but Demi Moore’s part is played by a lobster roll.

Bidding ends Nov 29, 11:59pm, starts at $5,000, Fish Bar, 2956 N Sheffield Ave, 773-687-8177, bid here

Your Burger Is Now More Peruvian

A new sports bar. Not necessarily that interesting. But this new second-floor sports bar is different: it has Peruvian cuisine in the form of sirloin-stuffed Incan Tater Tots, plantains and ceviche, in addition to wings and bacon cheeseburgers. Plus, the Incas worshipped Ditka as a god.

Opens Dec 3, Suite 25, 2529 N Milwaukee Ave, 2nd Fl, 773-360-7478
