The air. The water. The roar of jets. The vodka.
Looking back, this weekend was pretty sensational. Actually, it’s a lot like today.
Welcome to Sky Terrace at the Ivy Hotel, a semisecret rooftop in a new Streeterville boutique hotel, now open.
You may have walked by this place a million times. The $28 million hotel opened six weeks ago in an old sliver of a mid-block office building that was entirely gutted and furnished with 52 suites, bamboo floors, organic cotton towels and heated marble slabs in the showers.
Now they’ve unveiled the most important part: a place to eat short rib sliders and drink mai tais alfresco.
So yes, by all means, come after work when you’re looking for a place that is laid-back, is close to your office and has 360-degree views encompassing everything from Lake Michigan to Trump Tower, and plates of spicy tempura-battered fried shrimp.
The music here thumps at a rate somewhere between a South Beach hotel lounge and a Skrillex set—and it’s open until 1am, making it a good place to squeeze in a nightcap under the stars and a commanding view of the skyline before you call it a night.
Or start one.
