Let’s say you’ve got tickets to the Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald croon-a-thon Dukes of
September in a couple of weeks.
First of all: congrats. That should be Boz-tastic.
Now all you need: a nearby place to land housemade pretzel bites with provolone fondue before the concert.
Hey, look what we found...
Presenting Sip Wine Bar and Kitchen, a new refuge for preshow cheese boards and wood-grilled oysters, opening tonight in the Theatre District.
Brought to you by the guys behind Tavern on the Water, Papagayo and Max & Dylans, this is sort of a combination of all their greatest hits (including Papagayo’s handmade guacamole). And it’s housed in the old Bina Osteria spot, which has been once-over’d with some blue paint and a lot of mirrors (perfect for while-your-date-is-in-the-bathroom teeth checks).
Your best bet: grab a table by a floor-to-ceiling window, order a round of Sip Tease cocktails (prosecco, limoncello, ginger and blueberries) and discuss the genius of Michael McDonald (’s goatee) over small bites like the aforementioned wood-grilled oysters and buffalo rock shrimp fried in Guinness batter (aka the fail-safe).
Of course, you could also go here on a show-less evening, hitting the patio and ordering up the Aspen Ridge Hanger Steak and a crisp Chilean red.
Don’t be surprised if they deny your all–Steely Dan playlist, though.
