The Best Spots for Watching Fireworks

America turns 236 this week. So naturally, you’ll want to celebrate. Probably a lot like last year. Apple pie in the shape of Texas. Brisket in the shape of Ben Franklin. And fireworks in the shape of... fireworks. For the latter, we’ve got you covered. Behold: your July 4 fireworks-watching guide.

Fireworks on Lake Lewisville
ON THE LAKE

Fireworks on Lake Lewisville

The Scene: A 70-foot catamaran with 104 of your closest friends. And a dance floor. And a liberal BYOB policy. The Founding Fathers would approve.
The View: Water, fireworks and patriotic bikinis as far as the eye can see.

Lakewood Country Club
ON THE GOLF COURSE

Lakewood Country Club

The Scene: It’s a private country club. So you’re going to have to sneak in (and wear plaid). Slip between the bunkers on 14, roll a picnic blanket out on the green and crack open your martini thermos.
The View: Just lie down and look up. And watch for stray chip shots.

Addison Kaboom Town
ON THE LAWN

Addison Kaboom Town

The Scene: Enter the giant park and weave through families occupying American flag blankets. Secure a seat near the fountains, and set your beer cooler to “chill” and your playlist to Springsteen, loop.
The View: Sensory overload. It’s the biggest fireworks display in DFW. Like they say, everything’s bigger in Addison.

Jul 3, 5pm-midnight, Kaboom Town at Addison Circle Park

Lone Star Park
AT THE HORSE TRACK

Lone Star Park

The Scene: It’s a horse track with an outdoor bar. So we’re confident you’ll stay busy until nightfall. Which is when you’ll cash in your winnings, grab something domestic and retire to your box seats.
The View: Controlled explosives choreographed to music. Mixed with the faintest hint of horse stable.

Jul 4, gates open at 3pm, Lone Star Park, 1000 Lone Star Pkwy, Grand Prairie, 972-263-7223

BarBelmont
ON A HILL

BarBelmont

The Scene: BarBelmont sits on a small hill. Which sits in Dallas. Which offers an unobstructed view of downtown and the Fair Park fireworks show. Get an Old Fashioned, snag a spot on the terrace and look east. Or toward the colorful explosions.
The View: Star-spangled skyline.

Jul 4, BarBelmont, 901 Fort Worth Ave, 866-870-8010
