Things to do for April 12, 2012

The Weekender

Wine School, Yosemite and Bowling for Brunch

The weekend is batting a thousand.

Thursday
Divisadero Artwalk
ART APPRECIATION

Divisadero Artwalk

Adding some culture to happy hour wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. But not too much. Enter tonight’s block party, when nearly every bar and restaurant from Madrone Art Bar to Mini Bar is offering happy-hour deals (like the Little Chihuahua’s $3 beers and tacos) along with local art. It involves a little walking, so plan wisely.

Apr 12, 6-10pm, Divisadero Artwalk, various places on Divisadero (between Haight and Geary)

Friday
Beer and Cheese Flights at Quince
TAKING FLIGHT

Beer and Cheese Flights at Quince

It’s hard to like beer more. Actually, the same goes for cheese. So thinking like a true hedonist, you’d say it only makes sense to pair the two over a four-part flight—which is exactly what the good people at Quince have done. You get the easy part.

Starting Apr 13, Quince, 470 Pacific Ave (at Montgomery), 415-775-8500

Saturday
The Ahwahnee’s New Look
PARKS AND RECREATION

The Ahwahnee’s New Look

While this hasn’t been the only refurbishment this 1927 hotel in the heart of Yosemite has been through, we’re happy to report that the installations of HD flat-screens along with new beds and a refreshed bar are finally complete. Also: it’s far more bear-proof than a tent.

Sunday
Brunch and Bowling, Together at Last
SUPER BOWL

Brunch and Bowling, Together at Last

By now, you’re well acquainted with this bowling alley/cocktail bar/restaurant, so you might not need another excuse to drop in. But we’ve got one for you anyway: brunch. Expect chicken and waffles, french toast and a Hawaiian-inspired loco moco burger. And you almost forgot about the bowling...

Wine School at Saison
SOMM KIND OF WONDERFUL

Wine School at Saison

There’s something terribly, terribly wrong with going to school on Saturday. But we’ve discovered the sole exception: when it’s a wine immersion program led by Saison’s sommelier. The inaugural class will drill down on sparkling wines and champagne. Here’s hoping for homework.

Tickets available now for Apr 28, noon-2pm, $150, Saison, 2124 Folsom St (at 17th St), 415-828-7990, tickets here
