Things to do for October 27, 2011
The Weekender
Bacon, The Royal Tenenbaums and Trampoline Dodgeball
The weekend is a bastion of both tricks and treats.
Thursday
The Bacon Bacon Truck Party
To commemorate three months on the road, Jim of the Bacon Bacon Truck is throwing a party with gratis passed apps, drink specials and a blues band. Ah, how time flies when your dining regimen includes bacon grilled cheese, bacon banh mi and bacon burgers...
Friday
Pearl’s Deluxe Burgers Opens
It’s been a banner month for burgers. Closing out the burger joint explosion: Pearl’s Deluxe Burgers. It’s seven blocks from its sister eatery and will have roughly the same menu, except it’ll also have beer on tap and wine (license pending). Suddenly, a few blocks doesn’t seem so far.
Café Prague’s Czech Mate Party
Despite the split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993, there’s no reason not to celebrate Independent Czechoslovak State Day. So head down to Café Prague’s alley in FiDi for Spaten and Krušovice by the liter, grilled sausages and live accordion music. A Czech party isn’t a party until the accordion player shows up.
Saturday
Bad Dads Round II at Spoke Art
The Life Aquatic, Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums: you’re a fan. So make your way over to this group art show tribute to the movies of Wes Anderson. We predict a fair number of camel-hair suits and red watch caps, so dress accordingly.
Next Tuesday
Trampoline Dodgeball League
So the O&F Ballers are repeat champs from the fall league. But you’re not worried. You’ve handpicked your roster (as well as the jerseys, wristbands and top-secret team name). You’ve scoped the 22 conjoined trampolines in the Colosseum. In other words, you’re ready. First step: register. Second step: world domination.
