Things to do for October 13, 2011
The Weekender
Belly Dancers, Foie Gras and Depeche Mode
The weekend is fine-tuning itself.
Thursday
Friday
Belly Dancing and Sing-Alongs at DocFest
During this two-week, documentary-only film fest, you’ll be able to watch movies about a family of voluptuous belly dancers in Cairo or sing along to ’80s synthpop headliners like New Order, A-ha and Depeche Mode—complete with on-screen lyrics. On the off chance you’ll need them.
Saturday
The Doors at the Showroom
This old Cadillac showroom turned American music hall is reopening with rock legends like Ray Manzarek (the cofounder of the Doors) and the Fixx. There’ll be cocktails and edible options like bacon tater tots and fried chicken spring rolls. The food upstaging Ray is a distinct possibility.

Tuesday

If there’s anything you’d travel for, it could very well be scoops of Humphry Slocombe’s Secret Breakfast. But just so you know, these guys are branching out FiDi-side every Tuesday and bringing their ice cream and popsicles along with. Think of Tuesday as your bye.
Grape, Grain and Gluttony at Heart
Expect the sort of feast suitable for Henry VIII, and you’ve got this whole-salmon, whole-porchetta, whole-seven-layer-cake extravaganza. It’s all paired with magnums of beer and wine from the guys at Heart and the Monk’s Kettle—in case you get thirsty...
