The weekend has a good feeling about itself.
The all-day patio party. The very notion of such an affair conjures up images of oyster-eating competitions, jambalaya, live zydeco music and $5 Hurricanes. Wait, that’s Mardi Gras. No worries—it’ll all make sense this Saturday at Mardi Gras Fest in Little Five Points. The beads should help, too.
Ah, Virginia Highland. The tree-lined streets, the endless throngs of drinkeries... the alligator tacos. Starting this Saturday, Goin’ Coastal is opening their doors for lunch for the first time. Expect the usual menu with a few extras, like a rotating cast of po’boys and the aforementioned gator tacos. Ground beef is amateur hour.
You may want to consider capping your weekend off at Tantra. With a date. Mostly because on Sunday nights, every bottle on the list will be half off. Oh, and they’ll also be doing the same thing on Mondays. Some people define “weekend” differently.
Of course, you and that date could always just show up at Ecco and hit the bar. In fact, that’s probably a good idea, considering they’ll be teaching a class on how to infuse your own booze, complete with gratis tastes of the final products. Which should at least keep you primed until dinner.
Tuesday. It’s the bastard child of weekdays. The Bieber’s new haircut of letdowns. Unless, of course, you have the right strategy in place. Something like Sticks & Flicks at Highland Cigar—a weekly conclave of premium cigars, martini specials and flicks like Reservoir Dogs on the small screen. Not that it really matters.
