The Best Valentine’s Day Seats in LA

On Valentine’s Day, some people just need chocolates and rose petals. You? You’d rather consider leather swings, private wine cellars and the table where Quentin Tarantino sucked on some toes. Herewith, the most romantic (and bizarre) tables you can still grab.

Table 4, The Woods

Table 4, The Woods

In your favorite forest-themed strip-mall bar, you can reserve one very special corner table for $500 on February 14, bottle of Dom included.

Why it’s right: Table 4 is where Quentin Tarantino was recently seen sucking on some girl’s toes. Thankfully, she wasn’t married to Marsellus Wallace.

The Woods, 1533 N La Brea Ave (north of Sunset), Hollywood, 323-876-6612

Table 23, Eva

Table 23, Eva

In honor of his grandma Eva, chef/owner Mark Gold is bringing her old silverware to Table 23, and offering a five-course menu based on her wedding dinner.

Why it’s right: First person to propose on Valentine’s Day (at any table) gets a free supper with his bride every Sunday in 2011. Which is almost worth a year of marriage.

Dinner $75 per person, Eva, 7458 Beverly Blvd (east of Gardner), 323-634-0700

Stool 213, Barbrix

Stool 213, Barbrix

If your valentine is away modeling lingerie in Italy like usual, Barbrix is your spot. There’s no cover, no annoying prix fixe, and singles are welcome.

Why it’s right: The actual bar is a floating square, so everybody’s making eyes at each other all the way around. Stool 213 has the best view of the whole place.

Barbrix, 2442 Hyperion Ave (at Tracy), Silver Lake, 323-662-2442

Table 2, La Dolce Vita

Table 2, La Dolce Vita

This Italian legend has hosted presidents and Rat Packers since ’66, and Table 2, front and center, was Sinatra’s favorite.

Why it’s right: Because nobody could sniff out the best table at an Italian restaurant like Old Blue Eyes.

La Dolce Vita, 9785 Santa Monica Blvd, Beverly Hills, 310-278-1845

The Leather Swings, Red O

The Leather Swings, Red O

Usually at Red O, you fight the crowd at the bar for a drink as you wait for your table. Not on Valentine’s Day. For one night, that pair of leather swings hanging at the corner of the bar will be reservable.

Why it’s right: Because Valentine’s Day just isn’t Valentine’s Day without tequila and leather.

Red O, 8155 Melrose Ave (west of Crescent Heights), 323-655-5009

The Wine Cellar Table, L’Epicerie

The Wine Cellar Table, L’Epicerie

Down here you’ll find a single two-top bistro table, a couple bar stools and a whole lot of wine. Normally, this place doesn’t take reservations, but for this table on this night, they will.

Why it’s right: A wine cellar is possibly the only thing better than leather tequila swings to put you two in the mood.

L’Epicerie, 9900 Culver Blvd (at Duquesne), Culver City, 310-815-1600

Pool Cabana 512, The Peninsula

Pool Cabana 512, The Peninsula

Usually only open to hotel guests, the Peninsula’s rooftop pool cabanas can be booked for five-course prix fixe feasts from February 12 to 14. Close the curtains for complete privacy.

Why it’s right: Located on the southeast side, Cabana 512 has the best view. You can see all the way from Century City to Downtown.
