This week, Perks is bringing you a chance to spend a day at the track, racing Audi’s sportiest machines around Infineon Raceway. Also: gear for the impending season between seasons with half off Steven Alan’s pre-fall collection. Finally, a weeklong membership and personal training session at Crunch, on the house. Because you only like to sweat in the presence of a live DJ.
Happy hour is a sacred rite of weeknight passage not to ever (ever) be toyed with. Unless, of course, it involves the addition of lobster. So this week, head to Goin’ Coastal, where $22 gets you a Maine lobster and two Southern sides like collards and jalapeño corn bread pudding. They could’ve just stopped at lobster.
This Friday and Saturday, bear witness to a carnival of all things King at the Elvis Royale, a live stage show (sans jumpsuit) featuring a band, an orchestra and, of course, the infamous (or soon to be) Dames Aflame dancers. This isn’t your grandfather’s Elvis.
Fact: you have nothing to prove to anyone. But every once in a while, you do it anyway. And by every once in a while, we mean this Saturday. Man Day 2010 kicks off at Ink & Dagger with tat specials, then it’s off to Twain’s for pints, mustache and beard competitions, a handyman challenge and, of course, bobbing for lobsters. Claw bands optional.
Step outside real quick... go ahead, we’ll wait. Yes, what you just felt was the unrelenting, blistering heat of summer. And that can only mean one thing: one-dollar sushi. This month at RA, every time the mercury rises to 100 or above, you’ll get their Hot Mess (king crab, jalapeño, cilantro—normally $14) for a buck. Who’s laughing now, summer.
Tuesday. It’s the day between Monday and Wednesday... which is really not all that exciting. But every Tuesday night, the Westside’s own Bocado is hoping to change all that by doling out their signature burger with fries and a rotating weekly microbrew for $12. Think of it as pre-gaming for hump day.
