The Weekender

Whoa. It’s Another Weekend Already.

The weekend preferred the Stallone version of Cliffhanger.

Resolution-Ready Meals, Delivered

Among your resolutions: flipping tires, doing hundreds of pull-ups and, most importantly, eating like a caveman. Enter the folks at Power Supply, who twice per week deliver paleo-diet meals like sloppy joes and sausage-stuffed butternut squash to area CrossFit gyms. Turns out, sloppy joes = more push-ups.

Friday
Elvis’s Birthday Fight Club Returns
KING ME

Elvis’s Birthday Fight Club Returns

And now, a word from the King. And some burlesque dancers. And a fighting chicken. Yup, Elvis would be 78 this month, which means the annual Elvis-themed burlesque variety show is back, with costumed fighters and shedding of clothes, all presided over by the big Hound Dog himself.

Saturday
The Jewish Brunch You’ve Been Craving
BRUNCHING

The Jewish Brunch You’ve Been Craving

Then again, if your resolutions centered around pastrami hash, challah french toast or trying to pronounce things like “shakshouka” while you eat them, you’re in luck. DGS is now doing brunch, including cocktails like iced Russian coffee with Israeli chocolate liqueur. It’s the chosen liqueur.

Sunday
Bedtime Stories at the 9:30 Club
STORY TIME

Bedtime Stories at the 9:30 Club

You enjoy a good story. A tall tale. A yarn. Good thing, because SpeakeasyDC, the local storytelling collective, is presenting eight of last year’s top stories—chronicles of parking lots, steroids and virginity. You’ll have to find someone to tuck you in afterward.

Monday
Graffiato Goes Late-Night
BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY

Graffiato Goes Late-Night

FYI: you’re staying out late Monday—and the first Monday of every month—for Graffiato’s Industry Takeover Nights. Basically, they’ll turn over their kitchen to a guest chef and bartender for gratis bites and $5 cocktails. First up: Range’s chef Bryan Voltaggio and mixologist Owen Thomson. Expect big things.
