This is Vinylify. Vinylify is an Amsterdam-based service that makes records containing songs
you’ve either uploaded yourself or selected from their list. It’s available online now, and you have
questions.
Q: What’s the rush?
A: You’ve got hit records to make.
Q: Fair enough. So it’s like a mixtape, right?
A: Right. Except larger, rounder and not nearly as portable.
Q: How does it work?
A: Hop on the site and either upload your own tracks or select from over 400 existing ones.
Q: Is their stuff all weird Dutch music?
A: Not unless you think Floortje van Diepen is weird. (Yes, there’s some good stuff in there, too.)
Q: I smell a caveat. Can I upload any song?
A: Only if you own the master rights to it. Copyright laws still apply. But, hey, you can always upload a voice note if you’re not in a band or whatever. Thanks a lot, Vanilla Ice.
Q: How long before it arrives?
A: Three to four weeks, because it’s cut by hand. And coming from Holland.
Q: Is that all?
A: You can also upload artwork or photos and have them printed on the album cover.
Q: But can I scratch it like DJ Skribble from 1990s MTV?
A: Take care.
