Big plans tonight?

Maybe some involving aerialists and dancing and gin and light shows and a guy named Thugfucker?

No?

Yes.

Because we now share a world with the Great Northern. It’s big, it’s beautiful, it’s a club from the team behind Monarch, and it opens tonight in the Design District.

Take a good, hard look around. The grand sequel to Monarch is grand indeed, channeling a kind of “future deco” aesthetic. So, chrome and chandeliers and all things art deco meets giant LED projections that flit across the stained-glass design backing the main bar. Not to mention the custom light display on the ceiling that just happens to be from the crew that works with Daft Punk.

But it’s not all lights and Twin Peaks references. First and foremost, you’ll come here to dance to a variety of DJs up to and including the aforementioned Thugfucker, who is spinning tonight and is named Thugfucker. They’re planning massive outdoor block parties, too, in case that’s more your speed. There’s a monster sound system to accompany all of this, of course.

And we haven’t even gotten to the happy hour bar, the batched cocktails and the lady aerialists performing acrobatics from raised platforms.

Okay, now we’ve gotten to it.
