Things to do for May 06, 2010

The Weekender

Fizzy Martinis, Beer Dinners and Beefaroni

The weekend needs a hero with margarita superpowers.

Thursday
Beer Dinner at Deleece Grill Pub
SOMETHING BREWING

Beer Dinner at Deleece Grill Pub

It's hard to compete with last night's tequila-soaked free-for-all, but you'll give it a valiant try with four courses (pork belly, Gulf shrimp and pineapple upside-down cake will all be involved), each paired with a beer. Seis de Mayo will never be the same.

$45 Six-Course Dinners at Hearty
HUNGER AND THURS

$45 Six-Course Dinners at Hearty

The Hearty Boys always have something tempting up their collective sleeve. If it's not gourmet Beefaroni, Rabbit Corn Dogs or Poussin and Dumplings, then it's an absurdly huge six-course Thursday tasting menu. Actually, this is less of a temptation and more of a challenge.

Thursdays starting May 6, $45, Hearty, 3819 N Broadway, 773-868-9866

Friday
First Friday at MCA
ART ROCK

First Friday at MCA

Amid the sounds of clinking cocktails and beats from Hood Internet, the MCA gives you the first peek at their latest exhibit: work from Steve Krakow, who you may know as Plastic Crimewave, the illustrator/writer/researcher of The Reader's "The Secret History of Chicago Music" comic. Finally, art you can dance to.

Sunday
Brunch at Small Bar Division
SOCCER MOM

Brunch at Small Bar Division

You may find your usual brunch spots swamped by the mother-accompanying masses, so heads up: the Small Bar on Division has begun serving brunch. Your biscuits and gravy and sticky buns will be accompanied by European League Soccer. Moms get free mimosas, so be warned—she may turn hooligan.

Tuesday
Charitable Drinking at Prairie Fire
ON THE PRAIRIE

Charitable Drinking at Prairie Fire

We, like you, take some things very seriously. A well-made cocktail is among them. So Prairie Fire's guest-bartender Tuesday (hint: you may just see someone familiar behind the bar) presents fizzy, basil-and-citrus martinis (along with a brisket pizza), with all the tips going to Haiti relief. Sadly, we're pretty sure you can't count it as a write-off (yet).

May 11, 6-8pm, Prairie Fire, 215 N Clinton St, 312-382-8300
