Most bootcamps involve push-ups and obstacle courses and rope climbs.

This bootcamp involves live-fire cooking, pro tips from barbecue experts and plenty to eat and drink.

So, it's more our speed. And probably yours, too.

BBQ Bootcamp takes place at The Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort, a 10,000-acre property tucked away in Central California's Santa Ynez Valley, and it wants to teach you the ways of cowboy cooking. Registration is open now for the April 30 to May 2 experience.

Your registration nets you three days and two nights of double-occupancy room and board at the luxury ranch. So bring a friend. Once there, you will spend your days cooking and learning via grilling workshops, barbecue tutorials, spice blending sessions and more hands-on activities, like pro tips for starting a great fire.

Meals are included and will feature appearances by local celebrity chefs, winemakers and brew masters. Throw in complimentary wine tastings at nearby wineries, and you'll have plenty to keep you occupied.

When it's over, you will return home with newfound knowledge (and a recipe booklet) that you can apply directly to your daily life, whether you're a serious cook or just a grilled meats enthusiast—say, a ribeye aficionado who dabbles in brisket—wanting to hone your skills in time for barbecue season.

Plus, it'll look great on your résumé.
