Chocolate and Bourbon: There’s a Right Way

Chocolate. Cherry. Bourbon. Cinnamon.

All great things on their own. But better together. In cocktail form.

Committee in Boston understands this, and that’s why they’ve created the Burnt Forest. It’s got a little bit of everything—citrus, sour cherry, a faint dark chocolate sweetness and just enough bourbon to bring it all home.

Oh, and a blowtorched pinecone. Which... you should consider optional.

Here’s how to make the thing:

Burnt Forest
2 oz bourbon
2-3 tsp cherry puree
1/2 oz chocolate liqueur
1/2 oz cinnamon syrup
3/4 oz lime juice
ginger beer

First, make cinnamon syrup at home by adding six to eight crushed cinnamon sticks to simple syrup in a pan and boiling for 10 minutes. Strain syrup and set aside. Then, add all ingredients to a shaker and shake. Pour in a tall glass filled with crushed ice, and top with ginger beer and probably not a torched pinecone.
