This Beer Is Brewed with Yams

Yams.

They’re like the sweet potato’s less glamorous cousins, relegated to just one yearly appearance on Thanksgiving Day.

Poor yams.

But don’t fret (we’ll pretend you were fretting), because their status as second-class citizens ends now.

You can thank the Bruery, as the California beer guys have a seasonal release called Autumn Maple, which is made with a whole hell of a lot of yams. Each barrel is brewed with 17 pounds of the things, which... is a whole hell of a lot of yams.

It’s also brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, molasses and maple syrup, and all that’s fermented with a Belgian yeast strain. So... it’s beer, but spiced yam beer. And that’s something you can drink right now because ’tis the season and all that.

They recommend pairing it with “deep-fried turkey, buttery mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie and Thanksgiving dinner.”

That is very specific and very sound advice.

Discount at your own peril.
