Marvin Gaye would be 76 this week. As in years past, his namesake restaurant is pulling out all the stops. And those stops include Gaye’s original backing band, a vinyl shop from Som Records and a 2 to 6pm happy hour on the roof. So, yeah, that’s what’s going on.
The 1950s. A time of rockabilly. Bettie Page. Betty Grable. And other pinups not named Bettie or Betty. That’s what this night is about. There’ll be pinup-era burlesque, plus Virginia rockabilly band Jumpin’ Jupiter. So roll up in your ’57 Chevy. Or, you know, an Uber.
Just in time for the Yankees preseason game, Fairgrounds returns as your beer/margarita/cornhole/live music destination for another year. As you’ve come to expect, they’ll be open two hours before and two hours after every game. Aka extra innings.
Look what the Easter Bunny is bringing you: classic drinks like Aperol spritzes and gimlets from 2 Birds 1 Stone, which is conveniently now open on Sundays. Show up with a bunch of people and try their Airmail (dark rum, sparkling wine, lime, honey, bitters) in a carafe. Beats a Cadbury egg.
Maybe you prefer baseball games that actually count in the standings. Well, there’s one of those on Monday. And if you need somewhere to go first, Bluejacket is setting up in a nearby parking lot with drafts, GBD donuts and chicken sandwiches, and batting cages. So you might go there.
