A Great Happy Hour Spot Has Returned

None 4 Photos Urbana
You pass through a couple large sliding doors. There before you: a surrealist cityscape on one wall. And on the other wall: a bunch of lamps sticking out at 90-degree angles. You have:

a) entered a David Lynch movie.
b) had too many Negronis.
c) spent some time at the new-and-improved Urbana, reopening tonight after a summer refresh.

The correct answer is b and c. It’s the happy hour stalwart in the Hotel Palomar, redone with some trippy design elements and a fondness for bitter Italian hooch. Here’s what you need to know:

There’s more bar. Twice as much, in fact, plus a huge new lounge area with communal tables, faux-alligator sofas and those oddly horizontal lamps. (See the slideshow here.)

They’ve got bitters. Go on, have a Negroni on tap, or one of their new cocktails heavy on the amaros.

Everything’s coming up pasta. Okay, maybe not everything. But they do have pastas like mezzaluna with pork cheeks and black truffle.

You can take it home. They’re jarring their tomato sauce and bagging up housemade pastas like the strozzapreti, translated as “priest choker.”

Which is nicer than it sounds.
